This was a lab-scale hybrid rocket motor for demonstration of the inherent advantages of a hybrid rocket propulsion system. It was design, fabricated, and static tested by the University of Washington 2008 Senior Space Systems and Design Propulsion Team (James Stoffel, David Bensadon, and Abhinav Rishi) along with credited friends, classmates, and colleages at the end of the video. Thank you again for everyone who made this happen.
Future intended work for this hybrid rocket motor was created for the following Aeronautics & Astronautics students to do further research and development of hybrid rocket technology. The motor was design to be modular with interchangeable injectors, fuel grains, casings, nozzles, and other applications. There are interests in continued work on nitrous oxide (N2O) monopropellant catalytic studies for ignition purposes in a hybrid rocket propulsion system.
