  • Wonderful! Thank you! Funny production, stunning cast. 18:22 and 1:28:42 the best Belcore of our days: Giorgio Caoduro!

  • Ramon Vargas' Nemorino is just a role model for any other tenor singing he role. The sheer beauty of his voice and his masterful singing are just a ticket to the golden age of singing! One of the few present tenors that have tackled heavier roles and still preserving the qualities of his voice, that can only be achieved with a proper vocal technique and a wise way of singing. His Furtiva here at 1:57:30 is one one the most beautiful you'll ever hear!

  • Oooooh I'm pretty sure it was Vargas I saw at the Wiener Staatsoper last year for their production of L'Elisir- unbelievable.

  • DonGaetanoDonizetti : I share the disappointment of mona0825 below over the lack of recordings by this fine artist specially during what I believe to be his best years for belcanto & std lyric roles (1990 -1996).This & future generations of opera lovers deserve to experience RV's artistry at its most sublime. If you could upload his 1994 La Favorita from Teatro Colon and his 1990 Lucia from

Marseilles, opera fans (not just Vargas fans) will be very grateful for your generosity.

  • Beautiful. Thanks for uploading. How I wish this could be available on DVD or Blu-ray. Vargas has been the absolute best Nemorino for years and it's a shame there is no commercial record of it.

  • Thanks so much for posting this wonderful, very entertaining production with superb singing from a terrific cast. It's puzzling why SFO has not released this on HD disc; it is vastly superior to a lot of recordings in stores. At 49 here, RV's Nemorino is one for the books:riveting, funny, heart warming, heartbreaking with a voice and singing still gorgeous after 3 decades of opera. For one often criticized by detractors as "stiff, wooden",this is one heck of a performance.
