CSB Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. (Gen 1:1-2 CSB)

The earth "was" not became. If the Genesis record of creation is not literal the the rest of the Bible must be false. Get your information correct before you post bogus comments.
