The welcoming ceremony was VERY Hawaiian with hula and then ukulele playing with Hawaiians singing accompaniment. HUGE potluck (can't get more hawaiian than that) and lots of laughter and story telling. There were tropical flowers everywhere and it was so incredible to see family groups of all ages, colors and sizes humbling themselves and kneeling down in heartfelt prayer together in front of the relic. There were young people there too (twenty-somethings) , hippies that wanted to pay tribute and just all sorts of people. The overall message was paying respect to a distinctively generous man who had an overwhelming respect for human dignity.
