For three days the local government had anticipated a snow storm yet they failed to emit an official storm warning this past monday that would send a sense of emergency to the public. Everybody went on with their business as usual only to find out after lunch that snow was starting to pile up on the streets. In the after noon, mass histeria hit pretty much everyone who had a car. Streets got jammed and then ice finally made it imposible to move thru the city or highways. Many were held prisoners in there own vehicles and those that got home, did so with chains and after hours of traffic.
Some believe that anything that CAN go wrong eventually will. A major electrical line faulted sometime around in the afternoon and the main trains that serviced the city surroundings were rendered unusable. An estimated 3,000 commuters had to spend the night either in the train stations, hotels or with friends and relatives in Barcelona.
Many towns of the Girona province have endured 3 days without electrical power and all are asking why.
Some say that the snow storm has been "Olympic" making reference to the magnitude of the event and also, Barcelona's highly criticized candidacy for 2022 Olympic winter games announced by the city's mayor, Jordi Hereu, a few weeks ago. The overall collapse however, has not benefited anyone in Catalonia and it is very likely to take toll on a few political figures.

quan dic ''aquí'' em refereixo al baix penedès, i quan dic que va durar ''molt poc'' es la neu, no la tempesta, que va durar tot el dia. xD
