Tip: Put wheels on it. The wheels on the full-sized trebuchets in Medieval times weren't for moving the machines around. Wheels allow the machine to move back and forth after the throw, transferring more energy into the throw and dissipating excess energy into the wheel movement, thus preventing the machine from accidentally tearing itself apart from the force of the throw. Trust me on this -- I have a model trebuchet and catapult sitting on my desk at the Union-Recorder.
working towards my PhD... don't worry I'll have one in 4 years... building trebuchets is just more entertaining than spending exorbitant amounts of money downtown or watching sports.

it does have wheels on it. problem is the trebuchet is to massive (~120 kg) for the counterweight to overcome the inertial effects of the device.
