LOL, so glad i didn't friggin get this pos. i heard nothing but bad things about this one and the wdd.. i went with argosy, because they released the code to open source.. and not to mention... well other reasons :P later

@williamkendrick Most brands release the source code, as these devices mostly use Linux and other libraries that "oblige" them to do it. As most also use the same chipsets, the choice between most of them is also... purely personal, as most will do most stuff exactly the same.

@carlosmmartins asus didn't. neither did wester digital. this is just a generic player. other than its abysmal interface this thine kicks some butt.. AND...and it supports all sub titles, blue ray iso's, dvd isos, h264 encoded 720p or 400+p, mkv, ogg, flag, dts... dude.. i'm satisfied... plus o play and the WD version.. they didn't strike me as working in windows easilly... i've already set one of these up on a windows 7 based system..a nd i tried setting up oplay! for my friend.... didn't work

@williamkendrick Well, the full source code for the O!Play is available in Asus support site, alongside the firmware updates, so... No point there. (I believe WD does the same, but I didn't bother to check, as there are already many known alternative/hacked firmwares for WDTV.)

All those formats you've mentioned are instantly playable by the O!Play, and getting it to work with a Windows 7 system is just "plug and play".

Thank you so much. I was able to do the upgrade now, but unfortunately, when the system came back on, it didn't upgrade to 1.09N, it remains as 1.05N. Maybe I need to upgrade to 1.06N first you think?

Well, the first time I tried to upgrade I also got that same issue. IIt just rebooted after a while)

Try it again: until you actually see some progress bars across the screen, it's not really updating the firmware.

If it fails after a couple more attempts, then try the 1.06 to see if it indeed works differently.

Hey I just bought a new 3TB western digital Elements hardrive, and when I hook it up to my Asus Oplay it comes up with this message: " Device not supported" Does anyone know why this is and if this can be fixed. do you have to update my asus oplay. I bought this 1.5 years ago. Is it out of date or is western digital HD Drive not compatible?

You need to put the actual image file (unzip the file you download from Asus) in the root folder of a USB pen, and just connect it to the O!Play.

Then you should see the "current" and "new" versions in the settings menu, with the option to upgrade.

You can update to 1.09 directly (I also skipped a version when I updated it)

You'll get online service in that update, though some are also still quite buggy for now. (Flickr photo viewing crashed a lot)

Sorry for all the question. I finally purchased the O!Play Air. So far, it was ok, but there are still number of bugs that needs to be fixed. I wanted to upgrade the firmware, but can't seem to do that. I went to Setting=>System Upgrade and it kept on telling me it can't find the image file. It doesn't let me navigate to the image file, how do I do that? Do you have any idea? Plus, there were two firmware, do I need to upgrade to 1.06 first before I could apply the 1.09? Thank you so much.
