Both actors are fantastic. Their acting is subtle and completely believable. It was as if they weren't acting. I love the way this scene shows sex and religion as opposing forces. That look Ramon gave when he said "Forgive me" is to die for.

That is one wicked woman, to make him blow out that candle, something so sacred to him just to prove his love for her.

This IS the best scene in the movie, almost the only reason to see it ... though they're great in the final sequence, too.

the moment is symbolic . if he ll put the light out he will do anything for her including passing secrets.

Dangerous words...
Gorgeous scene, not just visually but in words, style everything.

An exquisite but cruel scene. The power a woman has over a man. The quality and texture of this scene....film cannot be equalled by any film of the last 50 years. Ramon is wonderful. He was and is little recognised for his tremendous talent . To me he remains the most superior Ben Hur of all time. Garbo's costumes in this were extraordinary. Costume designers were little recognised or lauded back then although there NEVER came after, anyone to compare with those of the 1920's-30's. Thank you.
