The future is in urbanism. Be glad we live in a community that has some vestiges of a proper urban center and this now-clean piece of prime real estate to develop.
Without a doubt the developers are planning on making money, that's kinda the point. Meanwhile there will be additional tax and retail revenues and jobs created both in the short and long terms and lord knows we could use more of all those things.
Ya but what they dont tell you is that this land is native lands and in many spots where they wanna build is on top of numerous amounts of graves from a tribe that was chased out years ago. The natives will fight this forever. Who wants to live or play on dead people?
These talking heads will have you believe this is for the good of Glen Cove's future-but in reality someone will profit from the waterfront, and not the Glen Cove taxpayer. No one in Glen Cove wants this, just like the Cedar Swamp Road improvement which is a big thumbs down failure with it's traffic calming 'islands'. All in the name of progress. Its all about money and power.Say NO to these clowns!
@stratoguzzi how do you know they're lying? That's not to say things might change, it's pretty obvious these are preliminary sketches. Why is this a stunt? What purpose do they have in creating a stunt? Where's the smoke and mirrors as well? Unless you think showing the public preliminary images and talking about their ideas is some sort of magic act. Personally I think they're doing what they're probably good at, finding sites with potential and tailoring a solution they think will work.
Guys in suits lying to you. They pulled the same sunt with the Cedar Swamp project.Fancy pictures showing how great it's going to be.In reality it;s all smoke and mirrors. They feel your not smart enough to know whats good for the community.Yon don't here too much about it lately because no bank is supid enough to lend them money for this project. No one Glen Cove is for this-never going to happen.Go BS someone else.
