  • @BojanSrdanovic Again, with a stock computer with stock rev limiter and stock gearbox, which is a close ratio on the GTI by the way, the maximum speed you're gonna reach @6500rpm is 86km/h. Never gonna see 120 on a mk2 GTI in second gear, never!

You would need 9000 RPM in second gear to reach 120 km/h.

But anyway i'm tired of this let's all end it and say everyone was right.

  • @BojanSrdanovic

Without the catalyst but WITH the k-head.

  • @daver18qc

I know what you mean, about the gear transmission ratio, but one has to assume an GTI would do more km/h then (for example) same Golf 3 1.9 diesel engine. I am saying it IS possible to do 120 km/h in an STOCK Golf 2 GTI without the catalyst and k-head (if you call it that way). Sorry for bad English.

  • @BojanSrdanovic Again, it all depends on the transmission gear ratio, and there are different ratios available for euro, american and canadian GTIs, so not all GTIs can reach 100 in second gear.. (i'm assuming you meant 100 instead of 120 in your post because 120 is pretty much impossible in second gear on any stock GTI)

  • @daver18qc

I know, you are right. But I've reached 120 km/h in Golf 2 GTI... And I am saying it is possible. It dosnt matter how much hp you've got, but a GTI should do 120km/h.

  • @BojanSrdanovic Do you know ANYTHING about cars ??

Power doesnt change your transmission gear ratio, if you have a short-ratio transmission you won't ever reach 100km/h in second gear, even with 12,000 HP !

  • @rotsos1993 gauges are meant to have the needle in the middle, which is optimal driving temperature. you probably arent driving long distances or your gauge doesnt work properly.

  • @jester12882

I'm sorry I missunderstood you, I was going for a VR6 engine, you have a 1.8i 16 valve engine? Still it wont be a problem to reach 100 in 2nd gear. I have a 2.9L VR6 engine and going 100 in 2nd gear is like going for a walk.

  • @jester12882

If you are rolling on a VR6 engine you'll nave no problems in getting to 100km/h in 2nd gear, well unless you're engine is nearing death, which I doubt, its VW after all. Good luck.

  • @BojanSrdanovic I'll give it a shot today, and get back to you lol

but then again I can't say my car is still 115 hp
