I wanted the challenge of finding good photos of all ninety one locations mentioned in the lyrics and coordinating them to the music.
This song, written by Geoff Mack, originally had Australian locations. Hank Snow heard it and wanted to record it so he asked Geoff if would write western hemisphere locations into the lyrics. He sent him an atlas and Geoff rewrote the lyrics with this version.
Hank Snow's version went to Number 1 on the Country Music chart in 1962. There were a couple of other versions in the following years. Then in 1996 Johnny Cash also made it a hit .
Here are the lyrics:
I was totin' my pack along the dusty Winnemucca road
When along came a semi with a high and canvas covered load
"If you're going to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride."
So I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand
And I said, "Listen, I've traveled every road in this here land."
(Chorus)
I've been everywhere, man
I've been everywhere, man
Across the deserts bare, man
I've breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I've had my share, man
I've been everywhere.
I've been to:
Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota, Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow, Sarasota, Wichita, Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma, Tampa, Panama, Mattawa, LaPaloma, Bangor, Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo, Tocapillo, Barranquilla, And Padilla,
I'm a killer
(Chorus)
I've been everywhere, man
I've been everywhere, man
Across the deserts bare, man
I've breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I've had my share, man
I've been everywhere.
I've been to Boston, Charleston, Dayton, Louisiana, Washington, Houston,
Kingston, Texarkana, Monterey, Ferriday, Santa Fe, Tallapoosa, Glen Rock, Black
Rock, Little Rock, Oskaloosa, Tennessee, Tennessee, Chicopee, Spirit Lake,
Grand Lake, Devil's Lake, Crater Lake, for Pete's sake.
(Chorus)
I've been everywhere, man
I've been everywhere, man
Across the deserts bare, man
I've breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I've had my share, man
I've been everywhere.
I've been to Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Ombabika, Shefferville,
Jacksonville, Waterville, Costa Rica, Pittsfield, Springfield, Bakersfield,
Shreveport, Hackensack, Cadillac, Fond Du Lac, Davenport, Idaho, Jellicoe,
Argentina, Diamontina, Pasadena, Catalina, see what I mean'a.
(Repeat Chorus, Then Chant) Pittsburgh, Parkersburg, Gravellburg, Colorado,

(Chorus)
I've been everywhere, man
I've been everywhere, man
Across the deserts bare, man
I've breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I've had my share, man
I've been everywhere.
I've been everywhere.
Ha! Good catch daveycard! While "western" hemisphere is as grammatically correct as "northern" hemisphere it clearly is not as geographically correct. So, I stand corrected. Northern hemisphere it should be. Or, how 'bout northwestern "quadisphere"? LOL

Dude, I'm not sure exactly sure what you're saying or asking. Are you asking: "Where are the lyrics?"
The lyrics are the words sung by Johnny Cash. They are the words contained within the song. If you are asking where the lyrics can be found, there are several web sites that offer lyrics to every song. Just Google "Song lyrics". I hope that answers your comment. Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed it.
