  • Great stuff, thanks very much.

At least the great Peter KIng is still with us.

  • johny butts taught my dad, who then taught me. from my dads mouth ''he was not only a good teacher but a good friend and i adored his drumming. he was the greatest influence in my life and i do mis him.'' (words from my father Brian Rogerson)

  • @exjazzbassbaz thanks. whats your name out'v curiosity? ill pass it on to me dad. i play drums (jazz style in his footsteps of course ha) and am trying to make a carreer out of music nowadays. not easy in carlisle.

  • @radgemasterben.your fathers name rings a bell with me.i was with johnny butts in derby and in blackburn mecca he went back to london to tubby and johnny dankworth .that must be close on 50 yrs ago nice to make your aquaintance.hope you are all well and enjoying your jazz good luck.

  • @exjazzbassbaz newcastle? me dad was close to him

  • nice tribute to johnny butts i had the pleasure of his company for 6 months in the 60s on the mecca circuit knockout drummer and a great lad left us too soon

  • it was not long after this that maynard formed his great british band with the likes of randy jones, andy mckintosh, pete king et al

  • I'm amazed footage like this has been captured. I hope the BBC still have this footage. I don't think I have seen Tubby so slim. Is there more from material from Mexican Green? I think it's probably his best material.

  • Pete King has to be THE most under rated sax players in the world. A monster
