Tony Fields and fellow dancer Alex Cole originated the male dance roles on Solid Gold. He was a member of the cast when the show premiered in the fall of 1979. Tony appeared on the show for four seasons, departing in 1984.

Tony left Solid Gold to assist Michael Peters (Peters' choreography includes music videos such as Michael Jackson's "Thriller," and "Beat It," and Lionel Richie's "Running with the Night").

Tony, who was a graduate of Davis High School, was a featured actor/dancer in the movie "A Chorus Line" and in this video, taken at a Davis High School assembly, he describes the process of being cast in that movie.

Tony died of AIDS-related cancer in 1995, at age 36.

  • I knew him at OWH junior high, when he was Tony Campos and Tony Fields and involved in school plays, musicals, and gymnastics. Generous, talented. He played Fagan in 'Oliver' the year he graduated, did much of the choreography for the thing, and was good to everyone. When I'd failed to master it by the time he graduated, he left me his aerial cartwheel in this kind of printed 'will' the 9th graders did as they moved on to HS. I'm glad he lived such a good life, and sorry it ended so soon.

  • I will never forget this man. I was such a little ballerina, taught by a prima ballerina .. Mz Snyder at the Davis Art Center. Tony came in and had worked it where he and his dancers would have the building two and a half days a week. We were encouraged to check his style out. .. Later he snatched me up and worked me hard but taught me the lessons I needed in order to be able to teach others, choreograph routines etc. and make alittle extra cash doing so while my raising my two daughters alone.
