From Local to Rio: Linking Women's Low-Carbon Initiatives with Sustainable Development Policy

This CSW parallel event aims to highlight key issues of gender and technology and build support from the women's community for work at UNFCCC, Rio+20 and beyond. This event will draw attention to the roles of women as inventors, managers, and distributors of low-emission technologies in the context of promoting sustainable development and effective climate change responses. These experiences provide important information for mainstreaming gender perspectives into national and international policies and programs in expanding energy access and addressing climate change challenges. At the same time, women's experiences inform the concept of a green economy and can influence its design to benefit all communities.
