"fishing marginal at best"
The Selway? In low water?
I'd say the fisherman must have been marginal!!!!!!!

never take rowing advice from someone who says "learn how to oar" that's like telling someone who is a bad driver to "learn how to steering wheel" Yup...nothing like a little "oaring" down the river. Looks like about 700cfs...not easy rowing by any means.

Float that bitch when house rock is a class V you won't have near those problems. And secondly, learn how to oar... you could have saved yourself some trouble.

Coincidentally a group I know did the Selway one year before us. One fatality. And she had a dry suit on.

we did a pre-season (early May) trip (private party) and it was incredible. Put in a Paradise Campground and took out at Selway Falls. Was that rocky section Ladel Rapid?

Don't know what that one in particular was called. Lots of similar sections. The river was about as low as they run it. Still tons of fun though.

Looks like a nightmare trip for the guides. Lots of stuck rafts and 5 days with pasty-faced, fussy clients, the kind who cake on a half bottle of spf50 on a cloudy day and bitch because the guide can't retie their fly while the raft is stuck on a rock in class III. Am I far off from the truth?

Not much bitchin' going on. Everyone was pretty accomplished with their flyrods. Tons of rocks and hangups and the fishing was marginal at best.
