Halo, level 5 ('Assault on the Control Room') on Heroic. This shows Johnson and fellow Pelican buddies taking it easy in the first ground attack by the covies (actually they've gone inactive after exiting the Pelican, and the game would normally have removed them by now). Three of them were in a neat line and I thought they'd make for a quirky little movie. Just turn up the volume and enjoy the atmosphere! For full details and written commentary (including scene-setting from Johnson himself) see here at my site: http://www.badcyborg.net/Halo/Movies/BCM25.html

  • A tad surreal, I'd say.

  • @UrsusArctosT34 Yes indeed. I actually would've liked to have a near-static shot of the trio doing their synchronized swaying the whole way through, oblivious to everything, but they always got disrupted one way or another - often by friendly fire. This was about as close as I was going to get without driving myself mad.

  • Great vid but why is the reticle always pointing at his... you know...

  • @Sazer333 Heh heh, well it wasn't at first; only when I moved around to the left to try and keep my trio framed nicely. I wasn't paying attention to the reticle, until about 1:28 when I suddenly noticed that my aim might be making Johnson nervous, and you see me pan right a little (not good). Tried to keep things a bit 'off-centre' after that. Pity I had to have a gun at all; I was just playing cameraman here of course.

  • haha, h1... sure brings me back, i think one of the reasons this was and still is a good game is because everything was so simple, yet so great sounding.. like the voices for the marines were cool, funny and sounded right, and then there was all the noises the covenant weapons and vehicles made, which sounded equally cool, [: I just wonder how everything could be done again if they make that rumored H1 remake... I'd have to assume it'd be using Reach's engine though.

  • @CB0Otz The sounds are indeed great. I can happily just watch and listen. I'll probably do some *more* 'watching' vids actually. Marines vs covies can be a lot of fun, especially on low difficulties. If there was ever a remake, I imagine they'd retro-fit it with the new-style covies. But give me the originals any day!

  • He ain't even mad.

  • @BadCyborgMovies Aha true that... I used to play h1 on easy all the time... but that was because I was young and couldn't play that great.. actually it wasn't untill halo 3 came out that i started playing on Heroic and Legendary, from then on my preferred difficulty was Heroic, The "way Halo is meant to be played", I guess it makes sense, and Halopedia says that Heroic has to be the most realistic difficulty so... Yeah.. Anyways thanks for answering back! :D

  • @RedAce93 Oh I wouldn't say I was hiding behind them. They weren't really helping me hide, but there was a big rock to my left which helped. I often wasn't pestered by any enemy fire while there were still some active Marines. Glad you liked the vid, even if it was a bit unusual.

  • @WarheadFIN Gone back to his roots eh? Back to the good ol' days. But AOTCR *is* very restful I find. Sometimes I leave the Xbox going so I can just listen to that wind in the background.
