  • this is brilliant

  • @zneufeld His name is Patrick Craig and yes he is one of the most talented counter-tenors out there. Closest thing I've heard to perfection.

  • This is perfection...

  • ...Beautiful. I can't wait to sing this for the 2011 PMEAs!

  • goose bump! woah!

  • @sophelet

I'm sorry I think my comment was misunderstood. The counter-tenor singing in this version is gorgeous. I was referring to the link posted by LouisvilleTorn8o...the one that "blows this one away." The counter-tenor in that version is all over the map as far as intonation goes. Also, I agree that the ficta sung here is correct. But ficta is really just a matter of taste anyway, right? There's not necessarily a right or wrong answer.

  • @zneufeld The countertenor is one of the greatest singing in England (and in several very illustrious ensembles) now.

Also, different (and differing) rules for applying musica ficta may account for the different final sonority you've seen in scores and heard here. What Tallis Scholars is singing here is correct.

  • @LouisvilleTorn8o I wonder whether the difference between "just" intonation and equal temperament is what is bothering you. The 3rds are different (as are the 6ths).

  • There are no such thing as bargain counter tenors in the Tallis Scholars my friend. I don't see the problem. Let's hear you sing it! hah!

  • @LouisvilleTorn8o Sorry...I meant the alto line. The second alto note in the "amen" should definitely be a B natural, not a B flat. It seems that just about everyone misses it, but it's in the score.
