This is a station filler screen and audio made in the style of what we might have seen (live) in the early days of color television when something didn't go quite right at the broadcast studio.

  • Loved that! The background, was that an old test card or did you make it from scratch?

    Good work!!!

  • It was a clip from a cleaning leader which most movie theaters had in the 60's. The leader included the test card for about 10 frames.

I Photoshopped the text with an anachronistic font, as scotpens noted. ;-)

  • If this is meant to be a re-creation of something a TV station might have used in the late 1950s to early '60s, the typeface is wrong for the period. It's ITC Bauhaus, a font that wasn't designed until 1975.

    Love the elevator music, though!

  • Wow..that's a really cool insight (and spot-on, too). Can you recommend any books or websites that focus specifically on typeface / font history?

    Thanks again!

  • I recognize the music. It's from an old fil called "Century 21 Caling".

  • Thank you for posting this! It takes me back in a time machine to when only TV stations malfunctioned every day instead of the whole world doing it...
