This is a short video of a vintage Epiphone Wilshire. Judging by the pickups, headstock and body style and carve I think it's either a 1964 or 1965 example. It originally had the Maestro Vibrola on it but that got replaced with a standard stop tail piece at some point in its life. It's also had a refinish and some new knobs too along the way. Everything else, including the electrics are original apparently. It plays like a dream and I'm really enjoying the range of sounds it can produce. In this demo it's plugged into a TS 808 Tubescreamer and a Cornell Romany amp on its lowest wattage setting. The sound quality is not great through my Canon Ixus camera mic but hopefully it gives a flavour of how it can rock out. I love this guitar.

  • I've just ordered the black version of your guitar. I'm kind of in that undergroundy, Dinosaur Jr and Nirvana type bands. I'm hoping this will explore a new sound, which is why i bought it. Nice playing, keep it up.

  • @BakedxZombie I think you've chosen a great guitar for that kind of sound. Wayne Kramer and Fred Smith from The MC5 played Wilshires (or variants thereof) so it's a good choice. Thanks!

  • Rockin', man! That thing has quite a snarl.

  • @barassodinga It does growl. I think it's the balance of the mini humbuckers and the light weight body that do it.

  • Fantastic Playing and sound too!

  • @ericmu17 Thanks, that's very kind.

  • Two people seem to like pink floyd rose spandex pant guitars and jerk of on Ingwie Malmsteen ;-). Just joking another great Video - love it!

  • Now, whenever I hear ZZ Top's Sharp Dressed Man, I remember the crazy drummer. hahaha

  • @tph777 Thanks so much for the kind comments. I'm self taught which is why I have a lot of bad habits but I've been playing for a long time so I've learned a bit along the way.

I'm really in love with the sound of mini-humbuckers in such a light guitar. Does it sound similar to the re-issue, or is your re-issue the one with the P90s in it? I only ask as I've never played one and I'm curious what differences there are. Thanks again.

  • That was great, your guitar sounds really good. I just bought an epiphone wilshire pro limited edition reissue. Where did you learn to play?
