This video was shot and edited by student Dario Musumeci as part of the UM-St. Louis course, "Special Topics in Media Studies" offered by the Department of Theatre, Dance and Media Studies and held here at the Nine Network of Public Media.

Every week Homeland producer Kate Shaw instructs 18 UMSL media students in shooting, editing and producing short video stories. Many of the students have chosen to cover the topic of immigration and have collected immigration stories from community members.

This story is about Atif Rajput, who came to the United States from Pakistan as a child. He went through a two-year process to obtain his U.S. citizenship. Through his 26 years here, he has endured language barriers, cultural diversity, scrutiny, and hardship but feels he has achieved his American dream.
