Sino-Tibetan Languages split into Chinese and Tibeto-Burman
see en.wikipedia. org/wiki/File:SinoTibetan Tree.svg (remove 2 spaces)
so
Tibetans are probably closer to Burmese than Koreans

Iraq wanted ?
Tibet is not the only country that suffers a similiar thing It is clever to threaten china and make them appear bad to the world with the olympics, but at the same time,TIbet insults the world. You boycott the games, you try to prevent them, you prevent a sacred wordly activity and all these athetetes at the same time.If Tibet wanted to be free, they should have been protesting as they are now in the past.Only recently do we really see anything major.I have nothing else to say. Go Beijing Olympics

read the facts outside of just Xinhua. READ THE DALAI LAMA'S LIPS -- When he said he does not want to see the Boycott of the Beijing Olympics! Imagine if the Dalai Lama called for Beijing Olympics, then what? You know how respected he is... a lot more than Hu Jintao or Wen JiaBao!
As for Tibet not being the only country that suffers, you are right. And you will see the protest of many against those regimes. Look at the US in its tolerance of dissent. Be fair!

Tibetans have been protesting for the past 50 years! Just do some research. Only now have the Chinese government unleashed Chinese nationalism against the Tibetan people.
Just do a google search and you will see how long Tibetans have been fighting and protesting. Always peaceful!
The Dalai Lama and the Tibetan movement are NOT calling for BOYCOTT of the Olympics. It is a very mature position. 140 protesters were killed in Tibet in the last three weeks by the Chinese government. HELP!

China is thinking for Tibet, if we were to allow the independence of Tibet how will they survive? Their economy can only sustain itself by the means of tourism, and very few other means. However if Tibet were to stay with China, China can supply it's needs. Please do not ridicule the monks as they are doing what they believe is right. I believe that Tibet must stay with China to maintain itself. Tibet is a great place, and will always be a great place that is part of China.

That is very simplistic view. China is afraid of Tibet's separation because of Xinjiang and inner Mongolia. If a country like Bhutan and Nepal can exist, why not Tibet? So that is not the point... but look up historical Tibet, you will see them referred as Tibetan Autonomous Region and Tibetan Autonomous Prefectures in Gansu, Sichuan, Yunan and Qinghai, it makes up more than 25% of China!!! And if you add Xinjiang and Mongolia, you have over 50% of China today!!!!

According to both chinese and tibetans I have seen in chinese and NA media there has always been some sort of conflict between Tibetan groups and the chinese government. I think that this particular terrorist and military reaction event just comes up way too close around the olympics and is just a way for those in tibet who want freedom to let the entire world know their cause and an excuse for the world who fears but relys on china to boycott beijing. Shame on the world and go Beijing Olympics!

China was ruled by foreigners during the Yuan and Qing dynasty.
Remember and do your research. You will not find any hatred in the Tibetan struggle. Lack of hatred does not mean, Tibetans did not suffer under the Chinese rule of the last 60 years! It was brutal. It is incredible that despite all that, there is an absence of hatred. Give credit to the Dalai Lama for that. If it was anyone else, you will have truly seen terrorism.
So don't complain!
