AK47 vs AR15

A little comparison, but mostly just some fun shooting two of the most popular military and civilian firearms available on the planet! I really like them both!

Note: This video gets a lot of antagonistic comments, as do most AK videos. My references to the Soviet Union and such are based on what was going on back in the 60's, 70's, & even '80s. Through 30 or 40 years of my life, the Soviet Union was no place anybody I know wanted to live; in fact, it seemed that anybody who had a chance to do it was defecting to the United States, or even other countries. Guess they just didn't quite see it as "Paradise." :-) I know things have changed there since then.

Since this topic can bring out the "ballistics bigotry" in some people, my finger is on the "Remove" button and ready to work overtime! :-) Be good.

AK's aren't "evil". No gun is "evil", it's who's shooting the gun.

i have both ar and an ak but i prefer the ak.. its all on what someone prefers they are both great and a gun is only as accurate as the person shooting it..my brother favors the ar

@gurney85 Well thank you. I am a big fan of Sig Sauer. As for AR vs AK, I've fired M16A2s, M16A4s, M4s, and my Romanian WASR GP 10/63. I like the $400 Ak better than any of the multi thousand dollar military rifles I have used. I will say that I like the M249 and M240B better than an AK, but they're in a different class. The Sig P226 is a vastly superior weapon to the Beretta M9, I'm so happy the Army is getting a new handgun. Fingers crossed for the S&W M&P 9.

@Abgewichst but..But...BUT...the USA sells more arms to EVERYONE else (dollar amount not volume..ahem..AK47's) so the USA should not be hypocritical in this fashion. I think I get what you are saying but being the primary promoters and beneficiaries of globalisation, losing the lead to 'you know who in the east tho..' its a choice and direction made by the USA itself and not imposed or compelled from the outside. You yourself carry a superb german/swiss drool worthy pistol.

@hickok45 did you replace the stock SGL 20 tactical AK-47 with that retractable stock? I'm looking for a 7.62 gun so help would be appreciated since you have almost 600 videos I believe you can give some really good advice. Thanks man! :D

The only reason I like the m4 is for it's high accuracy and modularity. You can set it up for practically any mission. But if I had to take a rifle to go out and survive in some post-apocalyptic wasteland, I would go with the AK. AKs are extremely reliable and durable.

The AK was created in the late 40s why judge it so much? The AR came around so much later so of course there was room for improvement on the part of the U.S.

this video is awesome (like you other ones). I just bought a Windham Weaponry M4A4 Tacitcal Rifle and love it! I want to buy an AK47 as well. After being in the USMC for 10.5 years and firing both of these beasts I love them both.

Mm so we have here the usual debate of Built like a house but shoots like a mule, or built like a plastic popgun and shoots rather accurately!

Probably a better comparison would be the AK 74 and the AR-15 to see what both 5 mm calibre types do.

Undoubtedly the AR15 should have a flatter trajectory, but the AK will probably tumble more and cause overall more damage when it hits.
