Estonians fortify position in southern Afghanistan - 1 Aug 2008

Since 2003, Estonia has been participating in the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, a mission which has become both Nato's as well as Estonia's, priority international mission.

Al Jazeera's Pia Heikkila in Nowzad, a southern Afghanistan town, takes a look into the daily lives of those soldiers where silence has been rocked by recent and intensifying violence.

You need to look in the mirror and ask yourself if you are ready to die in Afghan. We have no reason to be there. Please tell me what the mission is! There is no mission and Estonians & the other so-called NATO troops are foolish to be there. If Americans want to die for nothing then let them die. A Pres. who couldn't even show the least of his military papers started this. I have every written order issued to me. I served in RVN 68-69 & I'm 100% disabled and for what?

Russia never fought in Afghanistan. In Afghanistan fought the Soviet Union, and Estonia was part of it. Georgians have started the first war, they attacked the Russian battalion of the UN.
