Speaking at Thomson Reuters' editorial headquarters, UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown called for "a new financial architecture for the global age".

Brown said: "This crisis demonstrates beyond doubt that a global capital market requires much stronger global cooperation and supervision. And we need to ensure that we have an effective global early warning system to alert us across continents to economic and financial risk."

His speech came after the UK government announced it would spend up to 37 billion pounds to buy shares in major British banks to help resolve the global financial crisis. Several governments have said they will make similar moves.

  • Don't let any politician take any of you for fools. Society as a whole is a mess. The monetary economy is on self destruction. No politician can solve nor change a thing because the economy as we know it is so outdated and above all corrupt, is causing so many global problems and is the cause of many human behaviours, greed, dishonesty, corruption, various crimes, depression, human suffering and more. We need a resource based economy, a drastic change is required for money is the problem

  • No it is the UK not england.

  • indeed

england owns the US and Iraelis control US and own england.

the US only plays the tough guy

  • No they are both run by their Isreali masters.

  • The UK and the USA are both now run by Brown socialists.

  • ...create the internet, business, and everything else civilizations want and need. the govt does not do that, they have to take from people to do anything. that is why less govt is better, but we need just enough. We cannot have freedom without responsibility, and that's what we need more of. Less television, more reading. Less govt programs and more volunteerism. That's just what I believe.

  • think of a political spectrum from no government (anarchy) to full govt control (tyranny). We should have just enough govt to prevent anarchy i.e. you killing me and moving into my house. If there was no govt, then my family would kill you and take it back. then your family would kill mine and take it again...govt makes so that this behavior has consequences. You and I should be working hard and being responsible citizens and not harming people. period. you and I then have the freedom to

  • I don't know, I'd argue a significant part of their role is to preserve and maintain the system that allows for the civilisations that many enjoy. To be sat here/there using a computer in a protected and comfortable enviroment is one aspect of the beneficial sides of the system.

When you say "we" shouldn't you mean "I", as to suggest "we" is to conveniently offload responsibility to others, when one should instead demonstrate example. What exactly do you do to act in opposition? I'm curious.

  • Global inflation arises mainly by a man due to his excessive greed leading to misplanning, deficit financing ceasing his ability to follow the basic principles of controlling it. Its based on dogmatism & confiscation of the basic rights. When a man becomes inhumane acquiring the worst characters devil is after him to follow. When he tries to deprive the other members of the society from the rights they all deserve. Chaos & anarchy with suicide bombing & global destruction are visible end results

  • well lets be honest free market has actually brought countries to there knees. regulation is the only way forward i think that is agreed across the globe. at least house prices will fall by 50%
