No wonder the allied leaders wanted him out of the way. Taking care of the workingforce like that made them all look bad, does it not? I also heard that he was the first to make retirement funds mandatory to make sure the old workers did not starve like was the custom before.

@freglgegl just got back. no option for staying there yet... although they are converting three last blocks (on sassnitz \ neu mukran side) into a full time hotel\conference centrer. will be back when finished ;) cheers.

Also, for poor workers this would have been a marvelous act of welfare. During the 30s a "honeymoon roundtrip" to a worker meant buying a metro ticket for the Berlin train ring around the city center. The "Socialist" concepts of the National Socialists werent outright bad (affordable housing, cars, recreation, holiday trips for workers, etc.). That they may have not been open to everyone in the world but primarily "Arians" is quite a different story.

Why couldnt they just make an objective documentary on the concept in the context of its days. Instead they had to turn this into another propaganda movie by including snippets from old speeches and overlying them to make them sound confusing and menacing. Whoever witnessed the monotonous concrete hotel bunkers erected at the spanish coastline in the 50s and 60s to accommodate thousands and thousands of tourists wil realize that Prora was jsut ahead of its times.

darn ruissians blew some of the blocks but took too much time... darn russians =P tho would have been pretty small rooms for a whole family i think
