  • eric Harland on drums!!

  • okay we really need to find someone who DVRed this... in the middle of the video it looks like this was available on some sort of cable provider. I would give anything to get my hands on video or audio from any of the smaller tent performances like chris potter underground, this quartet in the video, brian blade fellowship, marco benevento with chris potter... etc.

  • I was there for this!!! This is how the day started on the main stage, later on this same unbelievable Quartet played the second tent-I got up and said thanks to Dave afterwards(that' what I like about Newport-so intimate) He laughed when I said I thought they streched out the tunes a little more on the second set they did that day, he mimiced my unintentional hand gestures-freaking funny and awesome at the same time to be rappin' with a giant of music..THIS WHOLE SET IS AVAILABLE @ NPR.ORG...

  • This is called 'Treachery', written by Eric Harland (drummer). The pianist is Gonzalo Rubalcaba (not Gonzalez) and the tenor sax is Chris Potter. Searching the web for dave-holland-quartet-newport-jazz-festival-882008 will give you more...

  • This is the Monterey Quartet, the beginnings of Dave Hollands new group the Overtone Quartet. They recorded a CD with this title on it in 2007 under the Monterey Jazz Festival Record label. The tunes called Treachery written by Eric Harland the drummer, I think specifically for this group. The Overtone quartet as it's called now uses Jason Moran instead of Gonzalo Rubalcaba.

  • awesome footage, I've heard the concert over a dozen times on the npr-site, but it's always nice to see them perform in real-action. Do you have more vids of this performance??

  • when did lionel loueke play this? but yeah, i was also there and i was blown away. eric harland is amazing

  • The Piano Player is Gonzalo Rubalcaba.

  • thank you!!!!
