The playing is good. The changed angle at which the pianist is filmed is frustrating...one wants to see his hands and feet at work in this live performance, but I guess one must content oneself with the sound being produced. :-/
Actually, that low D (and a number of other things) is from the first edition - there is a newer edition with plenty of corrections. As far as I remember, the pianist who premiered the piece wanted to make it more virtuosic - for example, the piu mosso part before the coda was written in a different way (you can hear this in some other recordings of the piece).

A delightful piece, beautifully played. Inspired me to this suggestion wrt the newborn Royal Twins:
Mary had a little girl;
She also had a son.
She played for them a lullaby:
Carl Nielsen's Dansk Chaconne.
(she may have to turn the volume down a little between 5:00 and 6:30 :-))

Thanks for the compliments, anyway!

A fine interpretation by this young pianist.
And an excellent recording - both aurally & visually.

Hey! Is that first low note out of tune?
Yes, at 4:43 it's there again.
Beautiful piece, and beautifully played. It's extremely difficult to make a piano sound so well in such an environment.

Wonderful playing, first class pianism.
5 stars, and 6 stars (eheh) to the "diminuendos" and the "ppp".
