DL5 MY FAMILY'S BAND

BIOGRAPHY & BACKGROUND

My Family's Band now in Las Vegas: DL5 - Has existed since the 80's with it's title name THE POKO OKANI MANA & THE FRIENDLY ISLANDERS. It was a source of income for the family and was therefore operated as an entertainment enterprise playing in night clubs, dance halls and other high paid occasions in the Island of Tonga as well in New Zealand, and American Samoa for several years. But now a new generation of the FONUAS is taking the music to a higher level of recognition and style than the Old-Skool stuffs of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's that we used to play. Indeed they are so successful in doing so not only in performing covered songs of any styles, but also their own originals compositions have speak for itself regarding their musicianship and talentship.

DL5 BAND consists of brothers and cousins who came together and show their love of music and through the performance of cover songs of famous artists as well as composing their own song original compositions to extend the boundaries of their music career.

DL5 Band has proven through their talents and performance why they are one of the most exciting up and coming bands not only in Utah but also in the land of Entertainment, Las Vegas. Their performance and ability to adapt to any kind of musical styles are a very strong point to consider. They Seamlessly fuse and net together an array of musical genres into one cohesive sound, this band truly has something for everyone. Their eclectic sound has been a collection of some 20+ years as musicians playing all kinds of music, ranging from: Avant Garde, Blues, Classical, Country, Easy Listening, Electronic, Folk, Hip-Hip/Rap, Holiday, Jazz, Kids/Family, Latin, Metal/Punk, Moods, New Age, Pop, Reggae, Rock, Spiritual, Spoken Word, Urban/R&B, World, you just name it.

DL5's musicianship and adaptability is a PLUS because it isn't hard for them to change from playing Cover music to writing and producing their own songs. Within 10 months they have written and recorded 60 songs, and another 15 more songs are lined up on their menu. They work together as a band from writing to recording instrument tracks. DL5 Music music is a mosaic collection of songs that embraces a variety of styles and emotions. There are catchy soulful melodies, tender love songs, soulful boasting from all the music they write.

Their Album "GIVE IT ALL UP" with 18 ORIGINAL SONGS on it is impressive and dynamic. Every song is touched with meaningful words and rich musicianship style. The overall variety of this Album shows the depth of the band as well as the talents behind it to have the ability to make it all work together so well in just one year, meaning this band means business.

DL5 was formed in early 2004 by a new generation of family's brothers and cousins, but the history of the band has been over 20 years in the making. In the late 80's under the leadership of their father AMINI POKO, DL5 (under their old name the Friendly Islanders) began regularly playing the hotels, bars, night club in the South Pacific not limited to the Island of Tonga, but also in Auckland, New Zealand, and had years of contract in with major entertainment establishment in American Samoa.

Now they are getting ready to tour to support their "GIVE IT ALL UP" Album and you can preview any songs they have written at their website:
