Although I'm a fan of modern football and the national competition, and even though we all knew for years that this day was coming; it was a sad and emotional day and many loyal supporters were hurt by it.
I'm an Essendon supporter, but even I had a tear in my eye that day; and still do when viewing this back. Thanks for posting emjoy666.

This was the worst day in my history of following AFL. Was not a roys fan but I still can't believe the AFL let this happen and I never want to see this happen again

Fitzroy could of ended by a thrilling win. I am a docker supporter myself but it would be quite lovely if Fitzroy won against Fremantle on their last ever game.

@Curley1419 very true. this won't happen again because the AFL will just give clubs any amount of money to keep them alive. disgraceful

Never got to watch a fitzroy game but its sad to see 113 years of history down the drain.

Such a sad ending to one of the founding clubs in the league. Truly a sad day indeed.
Thanks for posting, friend.

fitzroy had their chance to merge with footscray in the late 80s, would have been called the fitzroy bulldogs! should of done it!

@RobertsNetworkCom when you look at the Port guernsey do you see an altered Victorian V on it because when I first saw them I almost thought they had borrowed some old State of Origin jumpers.

Fremantle is shit

Fremantle are my favourite team but thats sad. Fitzroy could of had the last game with a win. :( But still Fremantle are good.

Further to that,
- Bamford wound up at Geelong in a trade
- Barker went to Hawthorn in the Brad Scott deal
- Carter went to Melbourne
- Molloy went to Collingwood in the Mal Michael Deal
- Clayton went to North and played in the 1999 flag alongside Pike who went to Brisbane 2 years later
- Dent finished at Hawthorn
- Rombotis spent a year at Richmond after Port

Who was the singer for Auld lang syne?

I wish I had an answer for you.
Unfortunately my copy of this game doesn't include the after-match ceremony. The footage of the singer is taken from the Fitzroy documentary video, "At Their Best - 1986 Season Highlights", and no introduction is given.
Can anyone else identify the mystery singer?

Thank goodness for Google. Sarah Macliver sang Auld Lang Syne on that sad day.
