A compilation of some of the larger sharks my customers and I have battled in the last 10 years. All sharks were caught off Hilton Head on 4 hour charters from our nearshore waters, and some just a couple hundred yards from the beach.
All sharks in this video were released, except two; one won the Edisto Shark Tourny and the other was a state record, which turned out to be the largest Blacktip ever caught on the East coast. These clips and pictures really don't give the sharks size any justice but I hope you can get some idea how truly awesome they are.
The species in this video are the Bull, Tiger, Lemon, Nurse, Blacktip and Hammerhead. Most of the Tigers were massive, a few weighing well over 1,000 pounds and most were over the 12 to 13 foot range. Some of the Tiger sharks you see are upside down and swimming very slow. These Tigers enter a hypnotic lethargic state when turned over, they aren't stressed or dead. As soon as they turn back over they take off like a freight train.
The Tiger shark in the picture at 0.55 was one of the larger ones I've ever seen. It was so massive it looked like a great white. The picture gives it NO justice. The Tiger shark in the video clip at 2:02 was ridiculous, nearly 3/4's the length of my boat, my charter battled this one for nearly 4 hours and still had plenty of strength. These monsters show up in May and stay through October. A half day charter is all thats needed .

  • @PcolaSharkFishing Thanks

  • how far offshore do you catch these sharks? I just started kayak fishing and I would prefer to steer clear of these brutes!

  • @reidskatehhi They're in pretty close. Never more than a mile or two off the beach.
