Aperture Laboratories is located in northern Michigan. Or Idaho. Or someplace where there's wheat. The game gives you three possible choices. There's a newspaper clipping that says that it was founded in northern Michigan. There's a plaque for an award from Idaho. And then you know where the wheat comes from.

It was built be the afore mention people.
Because GlaDos Is insane.
Don't worry about that or them, just get to the end where you will receive a bath cake.
The year is 2010. Ten years after the "Black Mesa Incident" and it takes a lot to get it that way
Oh and GlaDos... She just loves science.
