I THINK YOU ARE ALL FORGETTING FLOREY AND CHAIN!!! they are the reason penicillin was mass produced when it was!! and we are lucky that it did who knows the war couldve ended very differently!! Fleming discovered penicillin but FLOREY AND CHAIN deserve the recognition for saving so many people

Fleming actually said that his fame was not down to just himself. He acknowledged those that had researched before himself.

Someone will be remembered and someone will not. That is the history of medicine. Fleming probably had the mind to think of this as saving millions of lives and had the clout to do it. Clorito Picado probably was thought of as some little guy outwith the major powers, and so had little real clout. Fleming was working in London at the time, and was a top scientist according to the European powers. I don't really know the true story.
