  • Wow. I served with MCB-7 in Dong Ha in 1968-69. The very first project we had was to build a concrete ramp into the river so that the ships could be unloaded easily. That ramp in the film looks an awful lot like the one I worked on. It even looks like a crew is working on building the ramp, though I can't be certain as the film is not clear enough.

  • GG1man ... I was Army Riverboat in 1971 and the movie clip was sent to me by a Navy equivalent guy. So ... maybe it is as you say, the project you built. But, I don't see the railroad overpass that I think is pictured in the book cover of the book "Bridge at Dong Ha" ... p.s. I am pictured in the still photo by my .50 cal.. Also, I am not familiar with what MCB-7 means ... I was Army. thx for commenting. Bo

  • Thanks for posting this clip. It's the only thing I can show my children of how it was then. I was on YFU-69 out of DaNang during Feb., March and April of 68. Went to Deep Water piers later. We use to take NVA arti from over the DMZ. They had eight digit coordinates to the Dong Ha ramp. Man what a rush when it came in. It was like living and dieing in the same moment. SNBM Nelson

  • WOW I landed at Dong ha. took the ride to the Seabees,s rock crusher at Cam Lo that Night they hit the ammo and fuel storage and we went on full alert ! The next day we went in to help the Seabees that were Based in the middle of this to find we had not lost a BEE thanks to the Bunkers Seabees built right in the Mechanics shop !

    1st Tracs (AMGRUNTS)

It was spooky we got hit every night by something. 67-68, The clip shows the are at Dong Ha where you loaded on for the trip down river, There was no bridge anywhere near the CV. (Camp Kistler) Just the foot bridge over Jones Creek. We had 105's mounted on Tracs also. (HOWTARs)

  • I was at Cam Lo at the Seabee Rock Crusher like 68-69 ! Amen .

  • i got to dong ha in 66 for hastings. up and down the river several times. the tracs at the mouth of the river...a memory. stayed there until late 67 then back to danang cause i was short in the corps. spent 29 months in country,,,most of them up there

  • At one time in 67 the Cau Vet was the only 1/2 safe way in and out of there. The ramp was a logistical wonder of flood lights and the constant roar of lifts. When the dump blew ,the place went into overdrive... Passing the amtrac base at the mouth of the river was spooky at night, the way it was lit up like something out of the film Apocalypse. Without that ramp we couldnt have stayed up north in any strenght.

  • Thank you all of you for being there.
