This is the version that is on the vinyl LP I bought in the early eighties. I don't know if it is the original or not, nor do I care, but it is the one I like best. Soul Mining was the best '83 release imho, in a year that had more than a couple of timeless records.

Is that Harry Potter at the beginning? Perfect! This was the only version I've ever heard. That synth riff is "Perfect"! The swirling doppler effect backing the vocals during the chorus is tight, too! Love this song! The high-point of production values and merits was during the late-'70s and early '80s. I miss those days!

@kp5271 There r many versions of Perfect, more than 3! Reminds me of the letter I want to write Matt, where I'd ask him why he deprives us from so much of his material,a 1/3? I remember in the 80s, looking everywhere for Pornography of Despair & never finding it. Then, it was rare, later discontinued, & now unreleased. And that's just 1 of MANY examples.
As for Perfect, I have the 12'' on vinyl & maybe 7''. But vinyls r making a comeback so u never know, u might get lucky. But those r rare now
