Anne Lenner was a truly brilliant singing star of the 1930s/40s and for me epitomises that golden age of elegance! This video does not do her anyy justice i'm afraid, i hope to upload better soon.
Anne Lenner is my absolute favorite female vocalist. I can't wait for you to upgrade the audio of this video. Thanks for sharing it. So far it is the only AL recording I have found on YouTube.
This is true, although she never really left the Savoy Orpheans (although she quit to spend more time with her new husband, she carried on honouring recording and performing dates with the band for several years to come). She also sang for Churchill and Eisenhower.
When she left the Savoy and carol Gibbons she formed a short lasting trio comprising of Anne on vocals and two guitarists one called Reg 'O List and the other being Spike Milligan. They did a tour of Germany in the middle/late 40s. then they disbanded. As Spike said 'we had to, Reg died. Well I hope he did as they buried him'.
