@Trygonisking it is not political or racial song. it is a song that meant something to those of us who were there. while our friends were tripping the light fantastic in the shade of haight-ashbury( and more power to them) we were trying to compartmentalize the "peace-love-brotherhood" thing at home with the horror of blowing pieces of human flesh into thin air, and hoping, oft-times unsuccessfully, that we could find the world we had left behind, when we got home. rarely accomplished.

if and when you did come back you was a very different person !!!

Damn, you people are a TRIP!! I just came here because I wanted to here the song, just because I LIKE it, not to jump into the middle of a silly-ass RACE war. Being black, YES, I'M BLACK & I L;OVE THIS SONG (& PEG by Steely Dan) & No, I'm not on the DL. We all come from cultures that did F'd up things to one another, some worse than others. But, unless you lived through those times (& none of us did), grab some wood, build a bridge & GET OVER IT!!!!!

How in the hell did "Magic Carpet Ride" get transformed in a political comentary about the american indian?....trust me when they wrote this song and sang it...THEY NEVER EVER had the American Indians on there minds!! get a grip!!! and stop making songs into some neo-political comentary. Beleive it or not....this is "MUSIC" not politics!!!
