@Wotanraven The french didn't stand strong, the status quo was just profitable, they were making money under the table with saddam violating un sanctions, look up "UN Oil for food scandal", also an inconvenient truth that the Iraqi air force was in french hangars being serviced and updated with french weapon systems, the french were saddam's under the table arms dealer and oil suitor, nothing noble about the Chirac indignation, he was just greedy and didn't want profit to be interrupted.

Also, it takes more courage to go against the Bush administration. In that Iraq disagreement, the UK was the US' bitches while France stood strong. Don't forget that.

When he was the President, he would serve potatoes in the 'french style"... which wasn't unique to France (as England was doing pretty much the same thing.) That French-frying technique and preparation of potatoes would eventually evolve into what we call French Fries today.
