Here is a beloved and romantic hapa-haole song by Kui Lee, hinting at a season of love and then a parting. It's beautifully subtle and was popularized by the late Kui Lee and his friend, Don Ho. I am accompanying myself on slack key guitar in taropatch tuning (open G).

  • Very lovely. This song brings back so many memories for me. My parents had the Robin Wilson album with this song (I wish I could find it!) and took us to many Don Ho performances in Oahu and in LA.

  • @CookinCO My mom, a homesick Hawaiian girl in the 1960s, wore out the grooves of the Don Ho albums when I was a kid.

  • Good job. Sounds really nice. This is such a beautiful song.

  • I love this song....very good rendition!! The summer of love, leaving, and remembering did happen to me in 1965. I saw Don Ho @ the Duke's with this person and will never forget him.....I returned home and married my highschool sweetheart<3

  • great!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful! Thank you for sharing this lovely song!

  • Thank you

  • I'm sure Kuiokalani Lee (also knows as Kui Lee) would be pleased with the rendition you did of his song. You have a wonderful voice and captured the emotion of the song beautifully.

  • very nice.... mahalo nui loa....

  • Remember : Kui Lee wrote this song, and he died shortly thereafter of cancer, which makes this song his legacy to many others who did well - but only Kui Lee can evoke the true feeling of this song.

  • Great rendition of a great song.
