Cyclists Cause Accidents! Make Cyclists Pay Road Tax & Insurance

LOL, what a stupid muppet. Somewhere around 80 and 90% of the subset of collisions between motor vehicles and cyclists are the fault of the drivers. Given that cyclists tend to earn more than the UK national average, they pay more taxes than the average driver. They also pay fuel and VED. Then there are the non-drivers and non-cyclists who also pay income and council tax.
Looks like it's drivers that are freeloaders, a pain in the arse, and cause accidents. Oops, own goal.

Cyclists should definately pay road tax and isnsurance. they shouldnt really be on the roads. Poor car drivers. We should be able to drive faster

@kievcyclist I would do, but unless I get to 33 Mph on my rockhopper the flux capacitor doesnt kick in!!

Why do idiots assume that if you cycle you don't own a car? I'm an avid cyclist and own my own car. I know that given this those moronic motorists will come up with another argument, because it's not about anything other than people making them one or two minutes late to their destination while driving.

Road tax doesn't exist. It's car tax, a tax on cars and other vehicles, not a tax on roads or a fee to use them. Motorists do not pay directly for the roads. Roads are paid for via general and local taxation. In 1926, Winston Churchill started the process to abolish road tax. It was finally culled in 1937.

this discussion is pretty funny considering no one in germany would even consider making these arguments because everyone knows that everyone pays for the road equally and not only road users.
You could make the same argument for the sidewalk. It's not like pedestrians pay sidewalk-tax. So which right do they have to use it? May as well use it with your car lol.

@ilkorocker fool, take all the personal transportation cars driven by able-bodied people off the road, replace them with bikes and tell me there's not going to be a massive difference for the better (if ones pathetic little brain can think that far ahead in terms of decades, not minutes and seconds)! Bikes are the best for personal transportation, vehicular transport is the best for heavy goods transportation (but still mis-used and highly under-integrated with waterways, rail etc).

all cyclists are Chavs. Put em in tghe army I say.....left right left right drive e wifes 2nd jag 100 yars to the shops your orrible little man

@kentcyclist If you're male, I bet as you age, you'll be able to get it up for a good ten years longer than the average driver.

Im 100% a cyclist. Ive never had a car. My dog travels in a trailer and we go everywhere. I think making the dumb comments Ive been doing is more effective to highlight a cyclists lot rather than be defensive and explain to ignorant motorists.

@kentcyclist Oh I get it: this is an ironic post. well done!
