When first describing Calvin Wan, a principal word could be multitasker. Calvin has already had a long and varied career in motorsports, starting in 1996, and running in such diverse series including drag racing, autocrossing, rally crossing and motorcycles. Calvin also is a SAG (Screen Actors Guild) member and has provided numerous stunt driving assignments for television commercials, print ads and movies (including Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Crank 2: High Voltage). He is a published author, too, having written Calvin Wans Drifting Performance Handbook, which is distributed by Motorbooks International.

On the drifting front, the San Francisco native, who, like his neighbor and team mate up the road, Tyler McQuarrie, has spent a fair amount of time at Sonomas Infineon Raceway. He has competed in every round of the Formula Drift Championship series since its augural season in 2004, and has become a fan favorite due to his laid back style and street image.. Falken Tires officials noticed his capabilities during that first season and signed him to what has become a long-term contract, making Calvin a full-time driver for the company, driving Falken-owned works cars ever since.

In 2005, Calvin made history by becoming the first driver in the Formula Drift series to win in an import car with the Falken Tire Infiniti G35. He later moved to a Mazda RX-7, and for 2009, will be piloting the new Falken Tire Nissan S15 Silvia, running on Falken Azenis RT-615 rubber. In addition to this series, the multitasker will be doing double duty in the Formula D International Demos and Team Drifting Competition events.

The talented driver participates in more than 20 professional events each year and has received extensive media coverage with both national and international media outlets. When hes not driving, hes building race cars or serving as both a Drifting Judge and Instructor, holding special drifting performance clinics for private groups.

Drifting and race fans alike know the name Calvin Wan, and he is highly regarded and respected by his competitors. As one of the pioneers in drifting especially in the U.S., and one of the driving forces on Team Falken, Calvin has definitely earned his reputation and stands ready once again to help take Team Falken to the top of the podium.

I have a Question what is done to you video in post to give the lighting that feel?? i know you up'ed the shutter speed but what gives it that stark contrast feel?

it seems to be a popular style now, i would like to know how its done? also what kind of camera are you using?

Mostly I think it was the harsh lighting of the day. This session took place in noon-light with no clouds. If anything in post is the reason, it is the desaturation of reds, the crushing of the black levels and the little bit of exposure boost I added in Color.

We use the Sony HVR-Z7U camera, shooting in 1080p 24 fps. On car shots are made using the GoPro Hero Wide cameras.
