SUSANA SEIVANE. - She was born in Barcelona ( Spain-Europe ) in the year 1976, is the heiress of the family Seivane, one of the families with more prestige and universal reputation inside the world of the pipers and craftsmen of Galician Bagpipe. She began her musical gait three years after age of the hand of her father, Álvaro Seivane, who teaches the musical scale to her in a keyboard and in a chanter melody of Bagpipe. At the age of four, her grandfather Xosé and her father give her the first Bagpipe done to measure due to her shortly age. A little time later begins to form a part of the band of bagpipes " Toxos e Xestas " of Barcelona. Influenced by main Galician pipers as her grandfather Xosé Manuel Seivane, Ricardo Portela and Moxenas, she obtained the respect and the admiration of the world of the Bagpipe and of the traditional music in Galicia.
A genuine style is present in her way of touching, a style with flavor and with accent, a style with soul that smells Galicia from the first note, since she synthesizes the style "enxebre" ( galician genuine ), of the former Galician pipers at the same time as she shows an own style that she fuses with the influence of musical others, for this turns round herself with an index of musical young men who contribute a great freshness and originality to her musical spectacle.
In the summer of 1997 she was invited by the mythical galician group Milladoiro to inform in several spectacles broadcast for the whole world, which it represented for the bagpiper Susana to share stage with one of the groups most admired by herself; Milladoiro means for Susana the school in which learned the whole generation of artists in which she is included.
In 1999 the record stamp BOA MUSIC edits her first disc "Susana Seivane", produced by Rodrigo Romaní, one of the charter members of Milladoiro. This work based on traditional topics and compositions of Galician artists, the ride for the Folk Nacional's best stages and International, obtaining big successes and good critique. Her first disc is edited in Europe, E.E.U.U. and Canada.
In 2001 it comes her second work "Alma de Buxo", edited by the same record stamp, is produced by the proper Susana, under Rodrigo Romaní's artistic advice. With "Alma de Buxo" (Soul of Box) it is consolidated as Galician artist of reference in the panorama folk universally. In this one there collaborate artists of the importance of Uxía Senlle, Kepa Junquera or Rodrigo Romaní among others. Special mention deserves the collaboration of her grandfather Xosé Manuel Seivane. As innovation, in this work she introduces instruments as the battery or the electrical bass and enriches the disc with own compositions.
The same year turns out to be one of five finalists of the Indie Awards, the prestigious prizes that every year grants the Association of Music Independent E.E.U.U's. (AFIM), in the category of better artist of Musical Contemporary of the World.
" Mares de Tempo " (Seas of Time). With this suggestive title the light sees her third work in the year 2004, continuing an unstoppable path that the ride for the best stages so much of the national as international territory (Scotland, Germany, France, Italy, The United States, Argentina, etc.). Without leaving the tradition and the roots of the Galician music, Susana wanted to give an important step with " Mares de tempo ". The innovation of the arrangements together with taken care in the selection of the topics is this project . But the most surprising of this new work is, undoubtedly, the introduction of the musical excellent instrument: Susana Seivane entertains to the public this time with the sound of her voice too.
" Mares de tempo ", title extracted from the work " Longa noite de pedra " ( Long night of stone ) , of the Galician poet Celso Emilio Ferreiro, represents for Susana Seivane a reflection on the passage of time, and its loss in banal things.
Nowadays Susana Seivane is considered to be one of the firmest realities as Bagpiper.
In an interview, one asks Susana Seivane " to what does Galicia sound? ", and her response is:
- " To Galicia I would put it music of Bagpipe. I think that the Bagpipe is the flag of our country, which more represents a culture, a people, a music ".

Hello, friend Jean!. Make me happy so much to read your commentary and to know that you are a fan also of the Galician Music. For a Galician this is, naturally, a pride. And, as editor of Susana Seivane's video, a satisfaction for my report to know that it uses as possession for other persons.
A great greeting for you and Australia from Galicia!.
