Hey,
I'm a Boylesque dancer, I'm working on a routine for a competition that will hopefully at least take me to the national Australian finals.
The routine is designed to have a kabuki look to it, but with graceful classical Japanese inspired movements, you're performance was very inspirational and educational at the same time. If you're a beginner i'm very impressed, I'm no expert on Japanese dance, but this is by far one of the best videos I have come across during my research :)

hey, it is said in some comments you were a beginner ? that is pretty impressive. I am also starting to learn nihon buyou and really love it. Thanks for inspiring by posting :)

very beautiful dance. I really loved it~

very good! I enjoyed it very much.

The angles are precise and the motions are smooth and clean. I don't know much about traditional court dances, but I do recognize good skills. Very nicely done.

This is really the first time I have watch a traditional Japanese dance performance but I though its was very beautiful. I love the grace and precision of your movements. Great Job!

O.O I'm sorry, don't get all agitated! I just didn't know people could dance longer then they've been alive >.> I just figured if you've been dancing for 36 years you would be older then 36 years. islandgurl is more the name you would expect for a teenage girl, that is all.

Is there a problem? You know read or what? I said I've been DANCING for 36 years.
You are great! Although to someone to who has been dancing Buyō for many, many years it might be the contrary.
I dream of some days just packing up my bags and going to a school that teaches Japanese traditional dance. Your very lucky!
I hear it costs a lot of money, not just for the lessons, but to perform on stage. Is that right?

Thank you for your comment.
Exactly! To perform on a stage, it costs too much money for people in middle class like me. Fortunately, this was my first stage and one of my relatives who also teaches Japanese classical dance paid for me.

as a beginner to do Matsu No Midori is very impressive. It is not a easy dance to do and you have done it quite well though you need lots of improvement in your styling and need to relax a little bit to make more graceful. For a beginner, I would say "WELL DONE". 頑張ってね。
