  • Modern country isn't a pimple on this stuff.

  • @ElComadreja777

Modern country isn't even country. Maybe I have no right to talk, since I'm from NY and not the country, but someone once told me "if it has drums in it, it ain't country". I hated country music for the longest time until I started hearing the real stuff like this or the Skillet Likkers. It's so cool the way Scotty strums on the fiddle when he sings. I never saw anyone do that before. Is it a common move in this type of music?

  • Thank you very much for posting this video I have been looking for it on youtube for a long time now. The three Stoneman's in this video are my Uncles and Aunt. I believe my Uncle Scottie was, is, and will always be the best fiddler ever. Again thanks for posting. Laura Stoneman.

  • Arthur Godfrey and the Stonemans. Talk about a summit meeting. Love it!! The Stonemans went on to record one of the genre's definitive classics in 1966, the wonderfully weird and irresistible The Five Little Johnson Girls.

  • Sanford Baumstein certainly electrifies the screen with his presence.

  • @RRaquello It's not common but I have seen others do it. Check out Maddox Brothers and Rose if you already haven't.

  • My father performed on the Arthur Godfrey Show with his band "The Rhythm Riders" Do you know how I might be able to track down that show?

  • Thank You very very much for posting this fabulous video. I am watching it over and over and over!

  • DONNa wuz my PIN-Up...the TV show was ALL as well, every Sunday,Best HERITAGE Music ever on the tube & I pray your well dear Donna,Bless-YOU!!

  • A wonderful group from one of the premier music families, the Stonemans. Scotty Stoneman was so far ahead of his time, it's hard to believe the music he was playing in the 50's. And, Porter Church, one of the most solid players of his time. Check out his work with Red Allen.

  • Thank you VM for posting this - Scotty is my absolute hero.
