Guys, hear it from Tori's own mouth:
YouTube search for : "Tori Amos on being compared to Kate Bush"
This is her opinion, and it's a very understandable one. There are many differences between Tori and Kate... Let them be individuals okay?
It's a female thing, a piano thing, a similar production on a COUPLE songs that happen to use a female voice and PIANO thing. Tori said she was influenced by a LOT of artists, from 3 years of age guys. Tori has covered countless artists.
Let it go ...

I'm a fan of both women. I felt for awhile that Amos was influenced by Bush. But I feel it's coincidental really. They have such different styles. Bush is much more theatrical, and Amos is mainly a songstress, more folk or rock oriented. And Amos is much more straightforward, not as much a wordsmith as a storyteller. Ability? That's so subjective. Both are equal at what they do.

@robbjmc Ooops Sorry, I didn't seee this earlier. Cheers for clearing this up. I cheerfully withdraw the 'dagger look' I must've recalled it wrong, but, I'm sure we'll agree, it doesn'tlook like any collaboration will be happening anytine soon...again thanks for your fair comments.

@robbjmc I honestly wish I had never passed comment on this (as I'm a big fan of both). But I remember reading it, having a bit of a chuckle and showing it to my twinbrother and friend (one a huge Kate/Tori fan and the other, such a fan of Ms. Amos that his daughter, my niece, is called 'Tori') and they both remember it, but not exactly where it came from. I even asked them about it, without mentioning all this furore and they confirmed what I remember. I was genuinely not trolling....

@bobbyatomic Seriously fella, what would I have to gain by making such a thing up.... These are two of my favourite artists. No one would be happier to see them collaborate than I.
Unfortunately, that isn't likely to happen...unless something has changed in the interim.
Kate Bush recently ended an interview (with a dagger look) when Tori Amos was mentioned, so I doubt this is going to happen...... That said, I went to see Tori two weeks ago and she did a God/Running up that hill mashup which was nice to hear.....
So here's hoping....... :)

@kman6969 Kate Bush has only done phone interviews for quite some time now, so did she describe the "dagger look" or are you just making shit up?

@bobbyatomic Are you Kate Bush's manager? If so, I'll check my sources, otherwise pipe down. I read that in either 'Q' or 'The Sunday Times at the time of 'pi''....I can't quite remember. If I had known that, at some point in the future some muppet was going to pull me up on it, I would've paid more attention(and probably kept the article). Next time you're talking to Kate Bush, try to clarify that for me. Cheers.

@kman6969 Ah. It is from 2005. And there was no "dagger look." I have that interview. It was done over the phone for Q, and the interviewer asked Kate who her favorite performers of the last 20 years were. Before she'd had much of a chance to answer, he threw out Tori's name and she was momentarily silent...and then he withdrew the question and they both giggled a bit. She never committed one way or the other, and as it was a phone interview, any "dagger look" has to be greatly assumed.

@bobbyatomic Exactly. I've read every available interview (yes I know there are lots recently) and not one's asked her about Tori and put it in print since 2005. Not one. There are lots of mentions of Florence and the Machine though, and as always, Kate says something like "I don't know if it's true that I've been influential, but it's nice to think that I have..."

@kman6969 Where did you get the information about this "dagger look"? Because I am aware of exactly two interviews in which Tori is mentioned to Kate Bush and she's been fairly evasive, but nice about it. She's known for smiling at dumb questions until interviewers simply retract them by asking another. I don't think a "dagger look" ever happened.
