no comes from and old song that mixes spanish and nahuatl that star whit Maria ce son that they used to sing, so the people took that first sound as their name.
the mariage theory is now known as fake so that the people use to call them mariachi since before
Wouldn't that be odd that it comes from Marriage when the word is Matrimonio in Spanish. Unless they mean a form of maridaje which is an adjetive of the word conjugal, a word I have rarely heard used.
el pajarillo es de venezuela por eso me siento orgulloso q en el folklore mexicano hayan tomado en cuenta esta cancion tan autoctona de nuestra region!
Mariache o Mariachi is already mentioned before the French intervention in Mexico.
Mariache is a mixed word: "Maria" and the male vocative "tze, xe, che, she, je"
female vocative "tzi, xi,chi, ji"
Look up two books on the topic:
"Mariachi, simbolo musical de Mexico", and
Mitote, Fandango y Mariacheros"

Maria y el vocativo tze, she, che, xe, je. Seria una palabra mestiza como lo es Mexico; de europeos, indigenas y africanos.
