I agree Michaud, but I don't think she sounds cold at all. If only we had voices like her's today. I'd gladly take Nilsson singing ANYTHING over what's referred to as an Opera Singer now.

I saw her as Tosca in Philadelphia in the early 1960s and she was wonderful.

I think I would have died listening to this in a live performance. I just can't resist all the beauty in her singing. She's certainly not the only one great female opera singer, but personally she's my favorite. Every single recording of her I've heard brings such a special feeling that no other singer has ever made me feel.

Nilsson's voice makes for a very interesting Tosca that I have no problems with; she sings the music musically and with feeling.

Actually, it is of Nilsson...it's from the recording of Tosca where she sings with Franco Corelli and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
