Religion is inherently irrational. It is predicated on beliefs in things for which there is no evidence. Voltaire said, "those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities." The way out of many of the world's problems is to empower women, not make them live in cloth bags, force them to reproduce, and mutilate their genitals. On both evidential and moral grounds, religion belongs in the dustbin of history. Clinging to it is to cling to ignorance and cruelty.
