SOG Specialty knives & Tools has been making knives since 1986. The company was named in honor of the Vietnam War's only covert special warfare unit: The Studies and Observation Group. Its existence was once denied by the US Government and it wasn't until long after the war that the SOG Story could even be told.

Specifications:

- Blade Length: 5" x .16"
- Overall Length: 10.75"
- Weight: 7.1 oz.
- Edge: Straight
- Steel: VG-10 (as of 2008, previous AUS-8)
- HRC: 59-60
- Handle: Zytel

Safety:
Spring-action securely retains the blade closed. When unlocking, the fingers are safely kept clear.

Durability:
The Arc-Lock is self-adjusting over time and can be easily cleaned for long term optimal performance. Tested with 1000lbs weights.

  • I have the smaller spec elite 1 and I love it. So easy to open and close. No worry cutting yourself opening it like some others. Sturdy and locks up great even after a lot of hard use. The steel is Ok for a stainless steel. Doesn't hold an edge as good as some other knives, but other than that it's an amazing design.

  • Great review. Just subscribed. It looks like the it doesn't have a pivot screw to adjust blade play. Maybe I could not see it. I considered buying this knife. I bought the Cold Steel Voyager Extra Large. It was cheaper. But I am still thinking about this one, especially if there is a screw to adjust balde play.

  • seki japan is VG10 - VG10 is Japanese super-steel.

  • good review, thats a monster of a knife just took out the tape measure and comapred it to my Sog Aegis and woah its big

  • Fuck it's big might as well buy a fixed blade dagger probably cheaper.

  • I looked at this knife at Bass Pro. When I buy my next EDC, this is it.

  • how does this compare to sog visionary 2 and sog xray vision?

  • @flystagg Hmm, I have maybe half a millimeter of play. I am very happy with it. Maybe you need to tighten some of the bolts?
