Its not about whether what you believe is true its about feeling safe in your beliefs. I suggest we stop viewing socialism and other forms of government as kin to the devil. There is so much that the government can get away with just by the mentioning of socialism in a negative manner. I'm not arguing that people are abusing their powers to stay in office too long. I'm simply saying that the short tenure that they do serve is full of false flag propaganda that is much worse than any form of socialism that the world has ever seen.  Going all the way back to, though much evident earlier, the John Adams administration's Alien and Sedition Acts. Acts like these gain support through yellow journalism and bullshit propaganda. Why do you think that Vietnam was such a mess?

Well, for now, it seems you are innocently mistaken. I won't deny that a good swath of people can be tricked into allowing government to have powers it should not generally have but we have numerous safeguards, checks and balances, in place that make it very difficult for any such people to remain in power for too long. Always, there is the question of how quickly such abuse will become apparent and how long it will take to recover but, it's a fact of nature, that every "body" gets sick.
