I am a huge fan of the Moody Blues. I have seen them in concert three times.

I am showing folks how to play this, by announcing what chords I am playing and other little details. I set this on the strings voice setting.

This is a Yamaha 76 key keyboard. I am on a mission of sorts to teach young people and music enthusiasts of all ages how to play rock and pop music, by learning some rudimentary music theory. This helps greatly for improvising and spontaneous arrangements. I can read sheet music, but am not proficient at complex sight reading. I prefer to learn the basic "feel" of a piece and then work with it. Instead of notes, I try to remember which position or number in a given chordal scale the notes are. Similarly, I try to learn the chord progression.

Two great folks for free music theory are Scott Houston, known as Scott the Piano Guy. Also Carol Kaye. Her web site is www CarolKaye com. I believe they both have things on You Tube and most certainly you can search for them on Google.

  • There is a Moody's Diner in Waldoboro, Maine - USA - zip code 04572. I hope the band knows about this place. They should stop and pay a visit sometime if they have a chance! Their namesake in a most picturesque venue.

  • I am a serious amateur songwriter and near ready performer in Arlington, Virginia, USA, looking to hook up with lyric writers and folks willing to perform some of my tunes.

  • @S0UNDFACT0RY It is the strings setting. This is a low end keyboard, vintage 2005. The latest high end keyboards do have a fully synthesized effect to perfectly emulate the old Mellotron sound, without having to have cumbersome tape loops and tape machines.

  • Thanks for that, I really like that song..Do you know the Synth sound you are trying to emulate there? Is it the Mellotron?

  • @cattymanly Ah, yes! That would be a perfect venue for them! They have a lot of fans in Maine!

  • Kit does a great job playing "Nights In White Satin", one of my favorite tunes!
